About This Place

Las Americas, nestled in the heart of Baltimore on Dundalk Avenue, is a vibrant Latin American restaurant that masterfully showcases the rich and diverse flavors of Colombian and broader Latin cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the inviting warmth of this neighborhood gem promises a dining experience that feels both authentic and comfortably familiar.

The menu at Las Americas is a treasure trove of traditional and inventive dishes that celebrate the richness of Latin American culinary heritage. Standout offerings like Carne Asada Con Tajadas and Sancocho deliver bold and hearty flavors that truly transport your taste buds. One of their signature highlights, the Colombian Tray, is a generous feast featuring perfectly seasoned rice and beans, crispy fried pork, mildly spiced sausage, and tender beef that diners like Collin Robinson rave about for its harmonious blend and satisfying portions.

Every plate bursts with vivid textures and aromas — imagine the golden sweetness of fried plantains balancing the savory depth of slow-cooked meats, or the refreshing zest of ceviche that awakens your palate with delicate citrus notes. The variety offered is impressive: from the comforting richness of Sopa de Mondongo Con Coco to the crisp, flavorful Pastelitos de Harina Con Pollo, there’s a dish to satisfy every craving.

Though the restaurant’s intimate space occasionally leads to a wait, as noted by Jorge Rivera, this is a testament to Las Americas’ popularity and the genuine care with which each dish is made. The friendliness and attentiveness of the staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making you feel like part of an extended family. Customers like Mercedes and Constanza Flores mention the warm service and the surprising breadth of dishes from various Latin countries, highlighting freshness and quality that shine through every bite.

Whether you’re indulging in the smoky, tender Carne Asada Con Arroz Chino, savoring the tropical twist of Coconut Chicken (Pollo Con Tajadas), or sharing the crowd-pleasing Street Tacos with their fresh, tangy slaw, dining at Las Americas is an adventure for your senses. Mark Spilman’s praise for the Honduran-style tacos and fresh guacamole captures the essence of this place—delicious, authentic dishes offered at approachable prices that keep guests coming back.

In sum, Las Americas is more than just a restaurant; it’s a heartfelt celebration of Latin American culture, lovingly served on a plate. For anyone in the Baltimore area craving bold flavors, hearty portions, and a warm dining experience, Las Americas is a culinary treasure waiting to be discovered.

I 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone near Bayview. My wife and I split the Colombian Tray - it was plenty of food for two. Every aspect of this tray was delicious. Each part worked well together, too. The rice was spectacular, the beans were great, the arepa and egg were nice additions; the fried pork was tasty, the sausage had a little bit of spice, and the beef was the best part. Can't forget the fried plantains, too. We did take out, which was a 20 minute wait. The inside of the restaurant is brand new (renovated) and it was a lovely setup. All in all, please check out this restaurant and their fantastic representation of Latin cuisine.

Delicious food, great customer service, and overall quality is great.! They do need a bigger place tho. Waiting time can be a bit too long sometimes due to the lack of sitting

The food here is delicious. Honduran style tacos were fantastic. The slaw they're on top of was great too; watery, but I didn't mind at all because it was so good. Guacamole & chips were on point, guac was fresh. Grilled shrimp entree was also good, I only had a bite. Everything was devoured and it was pretty cheap I'd say for how good the food was. Just a bit of a warning, there can be a bit of a language barrier: I don't speak Spanish as much as I'd like. The girl on the phone was super patient with me while I stumbled through everything. We got it done tho and I showed up in 25 minutes and it was ready. The place is very small and you can park on the street out front. But it's a really cool little building. They do take cards.

We found this place by coincidence, but it was a great surprise. The portions are very big and the quality and freshness of the food is really good. They have an assortment of Latino food from many countries, but the ones we ordered were very good. We got the beef soup, coconut chicken, and yuca con chicharrón (this one was amazing)
